You Had Me at Hello is one of those paintings that felt clear from the start. There wasn’t much second-guessing with this one – the palette came naturally and the composition found its rhythm early on. Working at this 250 x 150cm scale changes how you move in the studio, and this piece really leaned into that physicality – stepping back, moving in close, letting the marks land where they wanted to.

Painted on raw linen using my signature colour palette, the surface brings a softness and honesty to the layers. There’s a balance between bolder gestures and quieter areas, creating movement without the piece feeling chaotic. It’s expressive, but still grounded – something that holds its own in a room while allowing the space around it to breathe.

This is a statement work designed for larger walls and open spaces. The kind of piece that anchors a room and grows with you over time, revealing new details in different light and at different moments of the day.
