LINEN EXPRESSIVE ABSTRACT PAINTING

Originally painted as a commission, this painting is a large-scale original abstract artwork that quickly took on a life of its own. Standing 2 metres tall and 1.6 metres wide, it’s full of colour, movement, and personality—designed to make a statement while still feeling soft and grounded.

Painted on raw natural linen, the textured surface allows each layer to breathe. The palette moves between dusty pinks, soft peach, warm olive greens, whites, and bolder hits of bright pink—each shade chosen for its emotional pull and how it plays with light and texture. The forms are sweeping and expressive, giving the piece a sense of freedom and flow.

This painting is about presence. It holds a room without overpowering it—confident, layered, and open to interpretation. There’s energy in the brushwork, but it’s balanced by softness in the colours and transitions. Like many of my larger works, it was created slowly and intuitively in my Perth studio, building depth over time.
