As the Light Changes is inspired by the way colour can shift and transform as the day moves around us. Painted intuitively in layers, this original abstract artwork combines broad, sweeping gestures with softer areas of colour and more expressive, textured marks.

Warm ochre, rust, caramel, and deep burgundy are softened by pale lilac, blush, and creamy neutrals. The contrast between the lighter, open upper half and the richer, grounded tones below creates a sense of depth and movement, with colours that seem to change depending on where your eye lands.

Created in my Perth studio, this 110 x 110cm abstract painting has enough presence to hold a wall on its own while remaining an easy size to place within a home. Warm, atmospheric, and a little unexpected, it’s a piece that will feel different as the light around it changes throughout the day.
