EXPRESSIVE & VIBRANT ABSTRACT PAINTING

A Gentle Kind of Mess holds a bold kind of energy—layered, expressive, and full of contrast. Painted on raw natural linen, this original abstract artwork brings together vibrant colour, textured mark-making, and movement that feels instinctive but balanced.

The composition is full of push and pull. Colours and shapes move in different directions - some loud, some quiet - but they all find a way to sit together. It reminds me of how people can be completely different and still find connection. Each part adds something unique to the mix, and that’s what makes it whole.

The palette features warm peaches, soft pinks, rich ochres, neutrals, and unexpected pops of colour. There’s texture in every corner, and little moments that might go unnoticed at first glance—but keep revealing themselves over time. It’s one of those pieces that changes depending on the light or your own state of mind.

Painted in my Perth studio, A Gentle Kind of Mess is an original abstract painting that brings warmth, energy, and a grounded sense of emotion into a space. It’s expressive without being overwhelming. Bold, but soft around the edges.

Professionally framed in Tasmanian oak and ready to hang (options for other frame colours or unframed available).

If you’re drawn to contemporary abstract art that feels honest, layered, and a little bit wild in the best way—A Gentle Kind of Mess might be the one.
